Josh Woodard, Valitics Co-Founder
Why am I writing my own bio? I wonder too, but it may be a good thing for you because nobody is more forth-coming with my flaws than I am, and I’m doing it because it stretches me.
My passion for Internet Marketing is really in the strategy and execution areas. I am a geek (at least I have been called that), but the part I love is seeing it all come together. I like to be involved all of the way from the initial talks with prospects to the monthly analysis of their web metrics.
The only thing I would feel really comfortable bragging about came as a compliment from the director of the Historical Frank Phillips Mansion in Bartlesville, Oklahoma -- she said, "You are a real self-starter."
So, as far as official corporate bios go, this probably doesn't fit the bill. That is partially because I wouldn't expect you to believe all of the things I might be tempted to tell you anyway :-).
Some high points from my brief history
I bolded the events I thought you would probably care about if you are a Valitics client or thinking about becoming one:
- Born in Northern Utah in the 70’s
- Raised on the frontier in Western Wyoming
- First used a computer over 20 years ago (Apple IIe, green screen)
- First surfed the net in junior high
- Our family got a PC (Atari ABC 386, 20Mhz Processor, 2MB Memory, 40MB HDD)
- Found and printed over 500 pages of guitar tablature off the Internet using dialup connection (printing was faster than surfing)
- The first and most common search engine I used was WebCrawler (long live metatags)
- Attended one semester at the University of Wyoming (got an A in “University Life”)
- Spent some time wandering around Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri
- Started at Boise State University as an English (or was it History) major
- Used the Internet A LOT, especially Google
- Focused on Business because I couldn’t handle Engineering
- Founded a technology company
- Graduated from BSU summa cum laude with a degree focus of Entrepreneurship
- Founded an Internet Marketing consulting company
- Worked as a marketing/business development consultant (with some very unique online businesses)
- Merged the technology and consulting firms to form Valitics!
- Read (sounds like reed, not red) a ton of blogs, books, and articles about all things Internet related
- Use Google as more than just a search engine
Passions
- Achievement – When tasks are too easy I have to make them difficult so I don’t lose interest.
- Marketing – I like the psychology side, I like the creative side (even though I am no good at it), and I LOVE the analytical side.
- Numbers Games – I like patterns and logic (I am mediocre at Sudoku, though).
- Items Irrelevant to this Site – Family, Faith, Music, and Building Stuff
Unless you are my mom, I am convinced that is way more about me than you ever wanted to know.
